Run or Walk to Support PTA Playground Improvements

Do you and your family love to run or walk? If so, you can register to run or walk Cause + Event Boise's 5K or 10K, a community event designed to raise money for the charity of your choice, on the morning of Saturday, April 9, at Reid Merrill Park in Eagle.

And you can support Discovery PTA by being part of our team and choosing our organization as your charity of choice. For every registration that supports Discovery PTA, we will receive $15. All of the proceeds will go toward our playground improvement initiative that is now underway.

Registration is $35 per runner, which includes the donation, a race bib, a chip, and a short-sleeved shirt. The event is stroller- and dog-friendly and will also include a free kids 1K fun run and tot trot so the entire family can participate! Race activities will take place between 8 and 11 a.m. on April 9.

Please consider running or walking for Discovery PTA. To join the team, please visit https://www.raceit.com/register/groups/join.aspx?event=33863&id=18213550&group=585257.

If you would like to bake or buy treats, please sign up at http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0b4da5a72aaafe3-book and deliver them to the library by 3 p.m. Wednesday. We can't thank you enough for your donations for this fun event!

Be sure to check out the Book Fair from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, and 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. sharp on Thursday. From 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, stop by the lemonade and cookie reception in the cafeteria after selecting some fun reads. All proceeds from the Book Fair will aid Discovery's school library, and the proceeds from the Art Walk will be generously donated toward the PTA's playground improvements.

Keep Sending in Box Tops

Congratulations to Mrs. McKay's first-grade class for
submitting the most Box Tops during our last contest.
They were awarded the Box Tops Traveling Trophy!
Who will our next winning classroom be?
Thank you to everyone who has turned in Box Tops so far this school year. Discovery has already earned $1,734.80 with the collection of 17,348 Box Tops. We are less than $800 from our goal of $2,500, which goes toward our school's needs. Let's keep clipping to make, or even exceed, that number!

The next contest is now underway. The classroom that turns in the most Box Tops by April 8 will receive a smoothie party! That classroom also will be awarded the Box Tops Traveling Trophy, which now resides in Mrs. McKay's first-grade classroom. Her class submitted the most Box Tops—768—during the last individual student contest.

The five students who brought in the most Box Tops during that previous contest also received passes for free mini golf at Wahooz Family Fun Zone. Those students were a kindergartener from Mrs. Jayne's class; a first-grader from Mrs. Davison's class; a fourth-grader from Mrs. Spenner's class; a fourth-grader from Ms. Geis' class; and a fifth-grader from Mrs. Haycock's class.
