Tuesday, May 3: The final PTA meeting of the school year will be at 4:10 p.m. in the Health Room.
Wednesday, May 4:
- Get your walking shoes on. Students can meet at the parking area behind Maverick on McMillan or at the park in the Champion Park subdivision for the spring Walk to School Day. Students and staff will be leaving these locations promptly at 8:10 a.m.
- In addition, the PTA will hold its May the Fourth Be With You Walk-a-Thon during the school day to raise money for playground improvements. We are still looking for parent volunteers; you can sign up at http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c094baaa923aafa7-walkathon.
Friday, May 6:
- It is the last Popcorn Friday of the school year; if you didn't pre-pay for your student earlier in the school year, send in 50 cents for an afternoon popcorn treat.
- Students must turn in any donations for the Walk-a-Thon to be eligible for prizes.
Monday, May 16: Celebrate the nice weather and a great school year at Discovery Night at U-Swirl from 6 to 8 p.m. The PTA will receive part of the proceeds, which will help with year-end activities and other school initiatives.
Friday, May 20: This is the last day to turn in Box Tops for the school year. The classroom that brings in the most will win a smoothie party and an extra recess. Be sure to check your pantry for Labels for Education and send those in as well this month. Unfortunately, after more than four decades, the program will discontinue this summer.
Friday, May 27: Mrs. Jensen is looking for volunteers for Field Day, so please inquire with your students' teachers if you are available.
Friday, June 3: Discovery is bringing back its Celebration Day. Come join your student(s) at school for lunch. You can bring a picnic lunch or order from one of the several food trucks that will be at the school.
And don't forget to celebrate teachers and staff during the week of Monday, May 2, to Friday, May 6, for Teacher (and Staff) Appreciation Week. The PTA will be bringing in lunch for the Discovery staff on Friday, May 6, to thank them for their hard work all year long.
